We’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with home owners, builders and interior designers on some pretty fabulous property in Prime London and the Home Counties.
The idea for Waste of Intelligence came when a property developer mentioned the scale of waste created during refurbishment, the original cost of the items being stripped out and the cost to dispose of them. Something just didn’t feel right throwing it out so she asked whether there might be a market for this waste.
We trialled the concept with Richard Branson’s former home in Holland Park. We started with the obvious things like kitchens, appliances, curtains and then just kept seeing what worked. We had tapped a growing demand for recycled, high end kit and were able to find a new home for a significant amount of waste destined for the skip, even trees that didn’t fit the new landscaper’s plans.
Since then, we’ve been involved in countless refurbishments of properties often in the Prime/Super Prime London market and Home counties. While we often work alongside client’s builders, we’ve also built a great strip out team we can deploy before works start.
Waste of Intelligence also work with builders on over ordered materials, another significant contributor to construction waste. In recent years we have broadened our offering to provide interior designers an outlet for items either rejected by the client or used in show homes.
The process is truly rewarding; the amazing property, it's history and the craftsmanship that created it and it’s bespoke contents, the perseverance, ingenuity and camaraderie of our team and the builders we work with, seeing the vision of the new owners and offering a viable, sustainable option for the waste they would otherwise create in the refurbishment process. And then there's the happy customers who’ve acquired often amazing kit at a fraction of the new cost.
The best part is that it doesn’t cost anything to adopt this sustainable approach.
We look forward to discussing your project.
